Frequently Asked Questions

How long does my hair have to be to get a wax?

Your hair has to be about 1/4-inch long, or around the size of a grain of rice. This helps ensure that the hair is completely removed from the root. If this will be your first time waxing, try to grow out your hair from your most previous hair removal for at least 2 weeks.

What to expect if I have been shaving?

The hair will be different lengths from shaving. The longer hair will be removed with the wax, it is possible the shortest hair may be left behind. after waxing consecutively, without shaving, the hair will become the same length and hair will no longer be left behind.

Why is waxing better than shaving?

Your waxing results will have much longer because you are removing hair from the root where shaving shaving removes hair from the surface only. Over time waxing makes hair grow back finer and thinner. With shaving hair appears tp grow back faster, thicker, and coarser.

Can I wax while I'm pregnant?

We recommend you always consult your doctor first; pregnancy may cause you to be more sensitive to waxing.

Are there medications, topical or oral, that may cause reactions?

Always check with your doctor first. We do not recommend waxing if you are using Accutane.  Exfoliators hydroxy-based medications including but no limited to: Retin-A, Renova, Defferin and Tazorac are contraindications to waxing. Blood thinners, steroids, oral acne medications could also result in skin irritation, peeling and/or skin darkening. You can always refer to the instructions for more information.

Can I wax before or after being in the sun?

Please wait at least 24 hours (minimum 8 hours) before or after you are in the sun because your skin will be a bit more sensitive. We care about you and your skin and recommend you always wear sunscreen.

I'm a self-tanner, what do you recommend for waxing?

Waxing is a fantastic option to do prior to self/topical tanning to exfoliate and perfectly prime your skin for a flawless tanning application. You should consider waxing 1 - 2 days before your self-tan. It's not recommended to get a spray tan or apply self-tanners on the same days as a wax. If you already use a self-tanner, the wax may remove your self-tan, just wait a few days days before reapplying!
